I did the binding for Table Runner Number Two. This is the runner that I edged with partial hexagons rather than cutting away excess from a full hexagon border. I am feeling really confident now about my binding skills after completing this binding.

Great job! Which method do you prefer, I wonder?
Cutting off the excess is much easier even with the extra stitching to reinforce. Assuming that my sample piece holds up to the laundry torture I am putting it through, I will make trimming the excess my preferred method of finishing the edge. These partial hexagons are larger than half hexagons. I would say about three quarters size. I wouldn’t bother with half partial hexagons at this scale (one inch) because the pieces are so small, which leaves very little leeway to ease fabric when seams don’t match perfectly. Next week I’ll be posting about the binding finish on a trimmed half hexagon border, and I’ll compare that border to the one posted here. Thanks for asking.
I’ve been following along your binding choices. very interesting!
Thanks. For someone who was at one time downright petrified at the thought of binding I have developed a real fondness for the process.
Your binding is something to be proud of. Look how it looks around all those jut outs.
