It was time to head back to the mattress store for another photo shoot of the Batik Flower Garden Quilt.
In the photograph above the hunter green and crimson hexagons almost become polka dots on burgundy fabric. It makes me want to make a whole quilt this way.
Cat hair alert. Look at that corner.
After comparing how the bottom of the quilt top extends over the edge of the mattress with how the sides of the quilt top extend over the mattress it became obvious to me that I am going to need another border of burgundy flowers on the sides to make up for the fact that the flowers are taller than they are wide.
The next order of business is going to be to purchase more burgundy fabric since I have used all that I have. Then I’ll need to make about thirty flowers and sew them in place. I’ve got my work cut out for me.

So much progress! I can’t believe it’ll take 30 flowers to add another border. I guess that shows how big your quilt has gotten!

30 was just an estimate. It is closer to 24 or 26 is I do just the left and right sides. The quilt is huge.

It is very pretty. Since last year I want to try to make a quilt, but it seem difficult for me. Because I can not sew accurate. But the quilt that you made seems easy..

Actually paper piecing is a very easy process once you learn how to do it. Accuracy is easy to achieve because you can make your points align perfectly by lining up your points and easing your seams by stretching one side slightly if necessary to compensate for slight inaccuracies. Start off by randomly joining a few hexagons made from scraps and do a small mug rug. You can find a lot of tutorials for basting and sewing hexagons online. Just Google “English Paper Piecing”.
